Entry Test and Discussion of Project Interests for GSoC 2019
Hie!
I am Saumia Singhal, junior undergraduate student, pursuing Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, at IIT Roorkee, India. I am really interested in working and exploring the following project ideas for Google Summer of Code, 2019. I have been reading about MBDyn for a while. Regarding the entry test, I tried simulating a simple Spring Mass Damper System. I found the code online. I tried modifying it and simulated Two Blocks-Spring System. MBDyn code, graphs and Matlab file to generate the animation are all attached. Please have a look at it.

I am interested in working on the following projects:
-
Embedded Optimization: Simulating a kinematically underdetermined, overactuated system in MBDyn, is indeed a strength of MBDyn. However, for working on this project, I need to dig deeper, and make my self more familiar with the modelling capabilities of MBDyn. Currently, I am trying to simulate such a system in MBDyn. I feel that this could provide me some insight on how to proceed with this project. But, I really need your advice here.
-
Consistent inertia in beam elements.
I am comfortable with coding in C and C++ language and have a fair level of experience in it. I understand the basic concepts of mechanics and dynamics (my major being Mechanical Engineering). Working with MBdyn will help me in brushing up my skills.
Best,
Saumia
