GSoC 2019 entry test and first contact with community
Dear MBDyn community,
Hi, I'm Muchen Sun, a senior undergraduate student majored in computer science at Lanzhou University, China. I'm very interested in working with MBDyn at GSoC 2019, for I'm going to study mechanical engineering in graduate school this year and I'm eagerly looking for opportunities to gain some experience in the related areas. I learnt about GSoC from a professor yesterday, and I thought MBDyn might be a great chance to learn some knowledge in mechanics while improving my programming skills. So, here I am :)
I've finished the first step in entry test, the results are at https://muchensun.github.io/blog/2019/GSoC2019-MBDyn-Entry-Test/. Now I am still learning the features of MBDyn while trying to find some clues for step 2.
Regarding the projects, I am interested in those can help me gain some knowledge in mechanics. To challenge myself, I would like to pick "Couple MBDyn with OpenFOAM", for CFD seems to be a fresh and interesting topic to me. However, I don't know if my lack of knowledge in aerodynamics and fluid dynamics would be a problem here. If that's the case, I am willing to work on "consistent inertia in beam elements", from which I believe I can also benefit a lot. Besides, I've initialized a draft of the proposal on Google Doc, but have no idea about how to finish it. I would appreciate it very much if I could have some advice from the community.
If more information about my background is needed, my curriculum vitae can be found at here.
Thank you and I hope I can hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Muchen
